VICTORIA PARK TENNIS CLUB

Interurban provides fun and competitive doubles and mixed doubles match play between area clubs for advanced players weekly on Tuesday evenings beginning in May.  Teams play a total of 10 events consisting of 5 home and 5 away over a 10-week schedule ending in July followed by playoffs.

Play Format

• Time Limit 2 Hours
• 1st Hour Mixed Doubles
  • 7:00pm to 7:10pm (Warm-up period)
  • 7:10pm to 8:05pm (Match play for Mixed Doubles)
• 2nd Hour Ladies’ / Men’s Doubles
  • 8:05pm to 9:00pm (Match play for Ladies’ or Men’s Doubles)
• Last Game Announcements
  • 8:00pm (Mixed Doubles)
  • 8:55pm (Ladies’ / Men’s Doubles)
• Time Management The Home Team Captain will oversee the timing and adherence to the schedule.

Pointing System

• Court Victory The total number of games won by each player/team determines the winner of the court. The player/team with the most games won earns 2 points.
• Tied Games If both players/teams win the same number of games on the court, the match is considered a tie, and each receives 1 point.
• Overall Tie-Breaker If the overall points are tied across all courts, the total number of games won across all courts is used as the tie-breaker.

Playoff Format

• Top 3 Teams Seed #2 faces seed #3 in the semifinal.  The winner proceeds to face seed #1 in the final.
• Bottom 3 Teams Seed #5 faces seed #6 in a preliminary round.  The winner advances to compete against seed #4 in a consolation match.

Additional Details

• Late Player Penalty If a player arrives late, at
  • 7:15pm, they will incur a penalty of 2 games.
  • 7:20pm or later, they will forfeit 10 games.
• Court Preparation Ensure that all players arrive early to assist in sweeping and preparing the courts before matches begin.

REGISTRATION

Pre-season Try-out: TUE APR 22 & 29 7PM

Registration must be completed by the Registration Deadline: TUE APR 29 7PM

The schedule will begin with Week 01: TUE MAY 13 7PM

The regular schedule will end with Week 10: TUE JUL 15 7PM

Rainout Make-up Week 11: TUE JUL 22 7PM

Semi-final Week 12: TUE JUL 29 7PM

Final Week 13: TUE AUG 5 7PM
